Since last time :)

We just came home today from our last weekend of camping this season, and I figured I bette do an update, since I have some things to tell about.
We still lave Christine's school as do Christine. They do lots of fun stuff with the kids. They have been making juice from fresh fruits and apple cake.
They have been visiting the fire station, and they had their 120-word party. The party was for their accomplisments to learn reading and writing the 120 most used words in the Danish language. Again their teacher managed to do it in a fun and exciting way... They were told that a thief had stolen the words, and that they had to find them again. The teacher red a story that day without the words, and it made absolutely no sence, and when they 2 weeks later had found the words, she red it again with all the words. The party they held were for the kids and their parents, and we had a fun evening with games, food and cake. The cake was cut into 120 pieces and on each piece one of the 120 words were written.
This weekend the three of us went camping. The weather wasn't nice, but it was a good way to spend some time with my hubby and my princess, after working for 8 days in a row.. Now Christine is spending the next couple of days with her grandma and grandpa together with her uncle and two cousins. And then Tuesday she is going to my moms house for a couple of days together with her 2. cousin. We will miss her, but she will have a fun vacation while we are working.

Christine's riding lesson.

Saturday August 18th Christine had her first lesson in horse-riding. I was a little excited to see if she would like it or not. But she just loved it. We brought my niece, and she was the one walking next to the horse, or running :) I was the one taking pictures ;) Well Christine had fun, and we decided to go back the Saturday after. Normally they start out with practice 6 Saturdays for new beginners, before they start on a real team, but our second time there, Lisa, the teacher, said that she would put Christine on her team, which practices Monday afternoons, because she was doing so good.. Christine was so happy, and Monday night she was practicing trot with Lisa in the middle holding the horse in a long line, instead of some one running next to the horse. I have a feeling that this is something she really wants to learn. She is very dedicated.
Another thing: Life in 1st grade is different than Kindergarten. They have home work, a new thing we need to add to our daily routine. But Christine is doing good, and she seems to love 1st grade. She is getting better and better at reading, and she loves to read to us in the evening before bedtime.

Redecorating.

We have been redecorating our living room and Christine's room. We got two new chairs and Christine got a desk to do homework at and a new mirror. Then she wanted a room with almost no toys in it, but still have her toys near by so she can still play with them. So that is what she got, and we got a lot of toys in the hallway :)

First day in 1st grade.

Monday August 13th Christine had her first day in 1st grade. She was a little excited. The day started as normal, with singing and storytime. Then they all had PE in the school yard. After that they went to their classrooms, and got some info from the teachers. Christine is not very excited about the home work. But she is doing good. She is getting better and better at reading, and she loves that part of homework :) So all in all a very good first week of school, with 3 playdates the first three days :)

News :)

The summer holiday is over. Christine is starting school tomorrow, Monday, and she is really looking forward to it. Saturday we went to Aalborg, to look at a new sofa, and to buy a new backpack for school. We ended up with two new chairs instead, and of course Christine got her backpack, a lego one with a horse on it. She also got a little desk, where she can sit and do her homework :)
During the last 3 weeks Søren and his dad have been working on our house. It is starting to look really good. Christine and I painted Christine's playhouse red with white window and door. It looks good now.
Don't know if I told you already, but before the summer holiday, Christine's best friend Iben moved to another city, where she starts school. It was hard on Christine as she once again "lost" her best friend. But she is doing good, and luckily she has lots of good friends to play with.
Lately she has been talking a lot about the US and all her friends, and how she cannot wait to see them all again some day.
Before the summer holiday we found out, that they at our little wonderful school will start teaching English in the 2nd grade, so that means only one year before Christine will start English. That will be so good for her.
Søren has a new passion. He bought a new mountain bike and is now riding long bikerides together with my brother and my brother's BIL. Guess they are having fun doing it. As for me, I'm still trying to loose weight by visiting the gym 3 times a week and riding my bike to work instead of taking the car. But haven't been so good at it this summer. But next Monday I'll be so ready to start again :)
Molly is getting old, and we need to make an appiontment for her to get some x-rays taken. She is not doing so good on her back legs, but there might be a cure for that. And that is what we need to do then. Hope she will stay here many more years :)

Vacation

We have had one week of vacation together all three of us. That week we spend camping in Jesper's (Søren's younger brother) yard. We left Sunday evening around midnight, and arrived Monday morning at 6. We had all been looking forward to seeing the 4 of them.

Later around 10am Søren's aunt, uncle and cousin with family arrived too. And later in the week more and more family arrived. The week ended with a big party Saturday night.
During the week we had cook outs every night, Christine and Fiona went riding together on Fiona's horse and we had a little camp fire a couple of nights. It was a funfilled week, and we enjoyed spending time with family.
