First day of kindergarten.

Ok... For Christine it was actually her second first day of kindergarten.
She was both excited and sad to start school Sunday. Excited about the new things happening, but sad it was not her first grade in the US. No doubt she is starting to realize what she is not having in Denmark... All you wonderful American people that was/is a huge part of our life... Well back to first day of school... The day started with the kids going to the sing room, where we sang a couple of songs. Next they went to their class room, and we parents were invited too. The had a little craft. They made balloons out of paper to put on the windows. Next the school teachers had planned a reception as an opening of our new school. It was a great reception.
First we went to the school yard, and all the kids let go of their balloons. It was an amazing (and a little touching) sight seeing all the balloons go up in the air, as a symbol that now our school was a reality. After that they planted a tree to symbolize that something new has started, and that hopefully our school will grow as the tree is growing. We ended the day with coffe and cake in the gym. I think it was an amazing and beautiful day.
And then soemthing else.. Finally.. After several bad attempts, our princess is riding her bike with no training wheels. She was so proud today (tuesday) that she could ride her bike to school.

Trip to the Zoo.

Thursday this week Christine, my mother-in-law and I visited the Zoo in Aalborg. We had a super day, and the weather was perfect for a Zoo visit. Christine enjoyed watching all the animals, and petting the goats :)

Summertime.

Saturday Søren's dad bought a medium sized pool to put in his yard. We have had a couple of days now with real summer, and it is pretty warm... Well not Mediapolis hot, but ok for a Danish summer. So Christine and I went in the pool sunday afternoon to cool down.. Søren stayed where itnwas dry :) The water was soooo cold, but it was still kind of nice in the heat.

Saturday was a long day of working on Christine's room, but it was so good to see her room take form. Søren and his dad put in the door, put down the carpet and did the trim by the floor. In the evening we cleaned Christine's bed and her shelves and put them in her room. Sunday morning, before picking up Christine after a sleep-over at grandma's, I put in some of her toys. Christine was more than thrilled to see her new room, and all sunday we unpacked lots of toys and put them in her room. This (Monday) afternoon she is playing with her friend Iben, and they are both enjoying having a room to play in... And so am I ;)

Zoopark Næstved.

While we have been here in Varpelev, the weather has been perfect. We have actually been sitting out side in the evenings.
Wednesday we went to a very small zoo with a nice playground. We enjoyed the weather and the kids had so much fun playing. It was a great day.
Now our little vacation is over, and we will be heading home in a cpuple of hours. We have had a great time, but it will be nice to be with my hubby again.

Trip to Køge.

Monday Christine, Anne Marie and I drove to south of Copenhagen to visit Søren's younger brother and his family. Christine loves playing with her cousin Fiona. It is nice to spend time with all of them, but I do wish Søren was here to enjoy the time with us.

Another week has gone, and Christine has been home from Kindergarten the last week. This week we recieved our last blog book, that we got from all our American friends, and I got a letter from Julie, and Christine got a letter and a t-shirt from Zoe. All of this made us miss everyone even more. Christine is talking a lot about her US friends, and that she miss' them very much, but we are trying to keep her positive about being back in Denmark.
Friday my mom, her friend Niels, my brother with family and Niels' oldest daughter Louise and her daughter Molly came tonour house for supper. We had a great evening, and Christine and Molly played so well together.
Saturday we got together with my grandpa's side of the family. It was a funfilled day, where we met a lot of family members that we had not seen for years.
Tomorrow monday Christine, my mother-in-law and I will drive to Copenhagen to visit Søren's younger brother and his family.
