Vacation

We have had one week of vacation together all three of us. That week we spend camping in Jesper's (Søren's younger brother) yard. We left Sunday evening around midnight, and arrived Monday morning at 6. We had all been looking forward to seeing the 4 of them.
Christine and Fiona play so well together.
Later around 10am Søren's aunt, uncle and cousin with family arrived too. And later in the week more and more family arrived. The week ended with a big party Saturday night.
During the week we had cook outs every night, Christine and Fiona went riding together on Fiona's horse and we had a little camp fire a couple of nights. It was a funfilled week, and we enjoyed spending time with family.

Fiona can ride on her own. She is really good at it.

And sometimes she does some crazy stuff :)

Christine wanted to ride alone, but that is not gonna happen for a while, but she is starting riding lessons soon, so maybe one day :)

After our week visiting Jesper and June, Søren and Christine had two more weeks of from work and school while I was working.
This Monday Christine will start 1st grade, and she is looking forward to it.

Activity week in Ingstrup.

The week from Sunday July 1st and until July 8th we have this fun week here in Ingstrup. The first Sunday they start out with a bike race. They are raising money for projects in Ingstrup. Monday to Friday they have activities each evening, both for kids and adults. That would be like soccer games, beach volley and lots of other fun stuff. Saturday they have a huge party in the evening, with around 200 people. The last Sunday they have activities all day. We went up there almost every evening. Saturday Christine played soccer, and Sunday her team made a show there. All in all a busy but super fun week.. Love living in a small community :)

Midsummers eve.

On June 23rd it was midsummers eve. We had invited some of Søren's family and some of my family over for a cookout. We grilled chicken, pork and hotdogs. It was a fun evening. And as the tradition goes, we had a bon fire in our backyard with a "witch" on top of it. The weather was not coorperating that evening, but after lots of waiting we got the fire going.. Around 11pm the fire was ready to bake bread on a stick on it. Not very tasteful, but lots of fun to make :)

The "witch".... Oooohhhh my.... Mistake.... This is Christine ;)

So here is the "witch"..... Oooh no.... Mistake again :) Here is Molly ;)

Well now we are getting there :) Yes that was right... This is my home made witch ;)

Kindergarten is over.

Christine's year in kindergarten is over. It has been a fun, but also busy year here in Denmark. I cannot believe it has been more than a year since we left the US. Here is a little from the last month in Kindergarten.
In the beginning of June Christine's school had this sleepover on a little Island called Livø. Parents came too, and we brought our tent for the sleepover. It rained both days there, but both parents and kids had lots of fun.
One of the last days of school Christine and her classmates were invited to their teacher's home. They had lots of fun playing and treasure hunting. I know Christine will miss having Jette as her teacher when she moves up in first grade after the holiday.

Hello again.

I know, I know! I have become a bad blogger. But here is a little news.
Well most weeks goes by fast. I'm working, Søren is working and Christine is in school.
In March the school had its play. They had made plays based on the stories by H.C. Andersen. It was so good, and both teachers and kids had done an amazing job. We loved seeeing Christine on stage, and see how she loved to sing songs. We all had such a good evening :) Christine is loving school, and she is doing such a good job reading. Right now she is very excited about going to 1st grade after the sommer. In the beginning of March Christine and her friend Ida started swimming lessons in Løkken, and she loved it. That is definately something she will do again next season. It is really good for her. And good for her mom to learn how to let go of her little princess ;)
Last Wednesday she started soccer practice, now that her gym/dance practice is done for the season. She thinks that is a lot of fun. Her English is getting pretty poor, but she still understands everything, and is still watching all her American movies. She often talks about everyone in the US and how much she miss' everyone. But guess that is how all three of us feel.
Søren is still working at Pedershaab, and ofcourse at our house at home. Right now Søren and his dad are working outside. They have taken down a lot of trees, and are digging up the roots. Guess at some point it will be looking really good in our driveway :)
I'm working more hours now than I did during fall and winter. But I still love my job, and my boss is just the sweetest. She is so considerable. When I have days off during the week, I normally pick up Christine early, and we enjoy the time together.
Both Søren and I started working out in the gym in Løkken. It is really nice, and I love that I have time for it in the morning, so that my evenings are free.
We are getting warmer weather here in Denmark, and we spend all the good days outside. But I do miss the Iowa summer :)
Like the tradition goes here in our family, Christine has had two Birthday parties. The first one was Saturday April 21st. It was held together with her two cousins. We had the whole family for coffee in the afternoon and hotdogs in the evening. It was so much fun, and all the kids played so well together. The second one was on her actual Birthday. I brought lunch and cake for her class at school, and in the evening we had the closest family over for supper. A great day.
